Pro Busselton is proud to announce the winner of this year's People's Choice Award.

This year's theme "urban instinct" asked artists the question "how have our urban instincts impacted on our environmental harmony in the South West?"  Our intention was to encourage artists to extend their creative boundaries and explore local environmental themes.

And the winner is...

"Trolley Collector" by Tamorin Lavers.

Artist Statement:

"They escape the boundaries of the asphalt car parks and lead double lives in the surrounding bushland perimeters. They are frequently seen to lurk in bushes or parklands, waiting and waiting for collection that may never come.  They adapt their lives to that or Fringe Dwellers and settle in to meet other fringe dwelling inhabitants.
They bare their plastic handles to the foraging bird life as trend-setting perches that offer far more comfort than those of the scratchy indigenous tree branches.
What could be more appealing to a weary bird, busily collecting the nesting basics, than a smoothly appointed and sleek piece of 21st Century urban equipment?
Man’s urban expansion can now offer thes stylish alternatives to natural bushland creatures, who are no longer required to live completely uncluttered and unpolluted lives in their old forested homes.

Tamorin was presented her award by Ray Macmillan on Wednesday 14 October.  This piece and many other stunning works are available for purchase until the exhibition ends on 8 November.
