Signature South West

The City of Busselton Art Award was established in 2008 to build the City's collection of contemporary Western Australian art. For a number of years the annual event was called Signature South West. It was re-named the City of Busselton Art Award in 2014 and a first prize of $10,000 reinstated to give the event more prestige and encourage a wider field of artists to enter. The exhibition is held in ArtGeo Gallery aound September-October each year.

The concept for Signature South West 2013 was Light and Shade. It was wonSignature South West LogoSignature South West Logo by Marina Troitsky for her work "Dont forget to Write." 

The theme for 2012 was "Art on the Edge of Events" and asked artists to expose the magic, drama and colour as it has never been seen before.  Excite viewers with new perspectives - real or imagined -  on events held in the City of Busselton.  The winner for 2012 was Renee Farrant with her work "Cutting Edge"

 

The theme for Signature SouthWest 2011 was "360 Degrees on All Things Trees."

The Signature South West 2010 theme was "South West Character and Identity".  The theme provided artists with an exciting opportunity to portray a person, group, animal, building or location that has helped define the character of the South West region.

Prizes for 2010 included:

  • $6,000 first prize (acquisitive)
  • $3,000 second prize (non acquisitive)
  • $1,000 third prize (non acquisitive)
  • $500 Pro Busselton People's Choice award
  • $500 Busselton Toyata award
  • Plus other prizes were proudly sponsored by local businesses who support Busselton's growing arts scene and recognise its contribution to increased tourism and trade.

2010: The Shire of Busselton's President, Mr Ian Stubbs presents winning artist Kay Gibson with first prize.
