Dare To Wear was conceived over coffee and developed over 12 months on a private FB group amongst textile artists across the South of the state.

β€œIt was never meant to be a competition, always an exhibition only, with no theme, leaving the artists to truly express their own uniqueness. This worked very well and if it appears like a theme, political, environmental, it is only because it is very topical today and the artists personally felt strongly enough to bring it to their art!” said Bobbie Bates – organizer of

The final 18 textile artists in the exhibition aim to promote wearable textile art in the South West country area and to help novices to network in a positive way with well-known and respected artists! Artists include Nalda Searle from Perth, Kerrie Argent from Lake Grace, Maree Louise Orr from Narrogin and local artists Val Hornibrook and Jane Flower and many more.

This popular show was originally shown at Millbrook House in Williams and then in the Lake Grace Gallery.  It has succeeded in bringing city and country artists together.  It is not know at this stage if the show will be an annual event.

Dare to Wear shows in the Courthouse Gallery from 16 - 31 August.
