Felt from 2D to 3D - Barbara Weeks

Using a plastic resist, repeatedly wrapped in wool, you will explore the magic of felt; layering colours, adding texture and lustre with silk fibres, wet felting and finally transforming to a 3D structure - magic!

You need to bring: 

  • A towel 60cm x 1 metre
  • Bubble wrap, 50cm x 1 metre, small bubbles, no tears (can be two pieces 50 x 50)
  • Small pointed scissors 
  • Plastic container, jug or ice cream tub.

Materials supplied:

  • Merino wool and silk fibres for decoration.
  • Plastic resist for forming the bowl. 
  • Net, sponge and dish soap.
  • Tea, coffee, cake. 

Barbara Weeks is passionate about wool and the creative potential of felt making. Her teaching and exhibiting spans 5 decades in the UK and internationally. A journey from quilt making to felt making via wool. Now settled in Busselton, she is a member of the renowned Bunbury Felting Group. 

She will be exhibiting in the Gallery from 10 October to 8 November and you can find her in the Gallery on selected Sundays demonstrating her work.
